Havnt been doing much these days and so nothing comes to mind to write. So as promised reviews

 

Movies

Baraka (1992)   A movie with no central theme at all. Just shows well shot clippings from different parts of the world. Awesome if the clarity of the video is good

Initial D (2005 – chinese)  A racing movie. Based on a manga/anime of the same name. Racing in mountains. If Tokyo drift seemed interesting, this should be good for U. Does not contain the stylish stuff fast and furious movies have.

The Crow (1994)  A old cult favourite. Its theme and its good parts have been ripped off endless times till date. A revenge based supernatural movie with gothic style. Brandon lee (Bruce lee’s son) died while making this movie and almost has the same makeup as the Joker(Heath ledger).

The man from nowhere (2010 – korean)  Similar to “Man on fire” but korean. Which means more brutality and less guns/explosives.

District B13 (2004 – french)  Set in 2010 where parts of paris have become lawless enough to be out of police jurisdiction. A action movie with lots of jumping around. Remember the chase sequence in “Casino Royale” on foot. That sequence can be said to be influenced by this. At the very least, this is the movie that made that particular style of chases popular.

Lady Snowblood I/II(1973/1974 – Japanese)  Kill bill is based on this. As simple as that.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc(2010 – french) Archeology/supernatural. If you liked “Amelie” then you would love this.

Angel of Death (2009)  A tarantino/rodrigez style of movie. A series of web episodes added up to make the movie. Stars “Zoe Bell” (Uma thurman’s stunt double in Kill bill, Lucy Lawless’s stunt double in Xena). Not a exceptional movie or anything but the background music is way too awesome.

The color of magic (2008)  Based of teri pratchett’s fantasy novel’s. Take away the popularity and this is definitely better than Harry potter/Percy Jackson. And its hilarious too.

Machete (2010)  Robert Rodrigez with Danny Trego as the lead. If movies like Death proof work for you then this is awesome. Otherwise this movie sucks. Watch the trailer to get an idea of the movie.

Natural born killers (1994)  Two victims of traumatized childhoods become lovers and psychopathic serial murderers irresponsibly glorified by the mass media (imdb). Movie is awesome, psychotic and colourful .

Thirst (Bakjwi) (2009 – korean)  A vampire movie of sorts. Very slow. But movie is good.

Let the right one in (2008 – swedish) Best vampire movie of recent times. Has absolutely no similarities with any of the vampire movies of recent times. Being made into english currently.

Black dynamite (2009)  A parody, kind of racist, kind of ridiculous. Check out quotes in imdb to get a idea.

Yellowbeard (1983)  A parody of the infamous Black beard. Asolutely hilarious and kind of ridiculous.  Check out quotes in imdb to get a idea.

Road (2010 – hindi)  A decent movie. Very less bollywood magic.

Le Cercle Rouge (1970 – french) Very slow movie. But has the coolest bad guys of all times. Probably depends on Ur definition of cool. Chances of hating it due to slowness are very high if the movie doesnt work for you.

The chaser (2008 – korean) Crime/Drama/Thriller. A little bit of brutality. Dont know how to descirbe the movie. It starts off and you just endup finishing it. Really engaging.

Tere bin laden/ phas gaye re obama (hindi) Not awesome and with little sense in it. But parts of them are hilarious. Works well if U skip over parts of the movie.

 

Ok these are just the non-popular movies that I havnt been able to delete from my hard disk.

But do watch these
